find cheap silver dollar contest

I have been looking around for cheap silver dollars esp since I figured out that they got just over 3/4 oz of silver in em rather than an ounce. for the morgan 0.7735 of an ounce.

now you can get 21s for $15 widely available. same thing peace dollars. what about under that price though? I see on ebay they will not sell for more than about $15 each.

I wonder if you can find offers for not more than 20 out there for lower prices. I have seen a couple such offers. I see a roll of common date and quality peaces for $12 each right now, but I ah, just lost the web page. . Just wondering how low you can go if you really scour the net.

I bought 103 Peace Dollars off from ebay 2 weeks ago for $10 each. That was also when silver was significantly higher.

Call up your local pawn shops and low end jewelery shops. I have found good stuff and both places for under spot, especially 90%.

I scour eBay and rarely win anymore.

Re: find cheap silver dollar contest

Cheapest I have seen "junk" Morgans and Peaces for was $12 each at a coin show. I bought a couple just to have them, but they seem too common to justify a high markup (the markup is over 20%, as they have about $9.91 worth of silver @ today's $12.81 spot). So I won't be buying any more unless I can get them for about $10 each or less, but I haven't seen any prices like that yet.

Anyone else know of some nice deals? Seems to me there are better deals to be had on other forms of silver (junk 90%, rounds, bars, large rounds, etc.) - dealers want a nice premium for Morgans and Peaces, but they don't pay a premium for them (only $9 or $10 each).

If your not terribly concerned about quality, APMEX has 'em for about $11.20 each right now:

$10.50 at my local shop but all the Morgans left are fairly worn. Lots of Peace dollars, though.

Where are you guys finding these deals, please? I assume at a local dealer/coin show? Are you allowed to divulge?

$9 Morgans, now those I would pick up a few of.

I see them at the coin show we have every two weeks. Sometimes I see some in pretty good shape and am tempted to buy some but I usually stick with .999.

off the wall thinking...

I have been buying a few commemorative silver dollars, same specs as Peace dollar but a lot less wear. Look for them on E-Bay, as always, watch out for shipping.:s15:
